This site is the archive of the Socrates (Lingua 1) LRC project which ran from 2001-2003

LRC project:
improving support for language learning through Language Resource Centres (LRCs)

This project was co-ordinated by CILT, the National Centre for Languages (UK) and received support from the European Union Socrates (Lingua 1) programme from 2001 - 2003.

The LRC project aimed to improve and support language teaching and learning by sharing expertise between Language Resource Centres throughout Europe. It brought together a network of 17 partners from 13 countries.

One of the main results of the project was the publication:

LRC handbook: Guidelines for setting up, running and expanding Language Resource Centres (LRCs)

Printed copies of the LRC handbook have now run out, however, it is still available on the web in .pdf format in all 16 project languages.

As interest in the project has been sustained, we have decided to continue to make the project web site available even though the funded phase of the project has come to an end.

The on-line LRC forum on 'setting up and running LRCs' has been transferred to the eEuroInclusion project which is building a network of Language Resource Centres specialising in less widely used less taught (LWULT) languages.

You are warmly invited to continue using the on-line resources from the original LRC project, to participate in the LRC Forum and visit the eEuroInclusion website.
